Position Overview:  

The Director of Events will be a critical member of Al-Monitor’s team and will grow the organization into a go-to platform for events focused on the Middle East. Specifically, the Director of Events will oversee the planning and management of private roundtables, global summits, strategic dialogue series and other signature events. The successful candidate will be a seasoned events professional with 7-10+ years of experience and a demonstrated track record of leading large scale to small successful events for a global organization. 

This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Business Strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Al-Monitor events from planning to execution in coordination with the SVP to ensure programs align with business priorities. 
  • Develop strategic initiatives and a portfolio of programs and events in collaboration with the SVP to drive the execution of the organization’s strategy and revenue goals.
  • Conceptualize and design innovative events that generate revenue, build brand awareness and create real world impact for partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead Al-Monitor event staffing and coordinate with leadership on budgets, contracts and event communications.
  • Communicate with stakeholders on event updates and provide briefing materials in the lead-up to each event. 
  • Lead on marketing and registration to promote events and build audience. 
  • Navigate internal structures to advance relationships with organization partners and provide proactive communications relevant to event logistics and execution. 
  • Implement the Al-Monitor message through coordination with colleagues on marketing techniques and the creation of event collateral.  
  • Collaborate with executive-level leadership to build visionary event concepts that will meet revenue goals.
  • Source and manage relationships with vendors, including venues, caterers, production and A/V and creative teams.
  • Oversee all aspects of managing event logistics and operations, with support from the operations director and other team members.  
  • Lead post-event recap process to analyze event outcomes, gather feedback and implement improvements.
  • Represent Al-Monitor externally at public and private events, international conferences and partner meetings. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and experience in policy or a related field preferred. 
  • Experience: 7- 10 years of experience in event planning, project management, stakeholder engagement or a related field. 
  • Collaboration skills: Proven ability to work easily with teams across departments to complete goals.
  • Technical proficiency: Familiarity with business software, such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. 
  • Program management: Experience with managing projects or programs, meeting deadlines and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Budgeting and financial acumen: Experience in creating, managing and adhering to budgets. Understanding of financial statements and key business metrics.
  • Interpersonal skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, suppliers and external partners.
