Satterfield to temporarily helm US embassy Egypt

David Satterfield, current head of the Multinational Force & Observers mission in Egypt, will temporarily helm the US Egypt mission following the departure of ambassador Anne Patterson.

Veteran US diplomat David Satterfield will serve as temporary charge d'affaires at the US Embassy in Egypt following the departure of ambassador Anne Patterson to Washington in a couple days, US officials tell the Back Channel.

Satterfield, head of the Multinational Force & Observers mission in Egypt, has previously served as deputy chief of mission in Iraq, principal deputy assistant secretary of state for near east affairs, at the NSC, and was confirmed as ambassador to Jordan.
