US officials visit Saudi Arabia as relations improve, yet tensions remain

The US and Saudi Arabia are in disagreement on oil, Syria and other matters, but the Biden administration has shifted to a friendlier approach to the kingdom.

US presidential adviser Brett McGurk visited Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The trip is the latest indication that US-Saudi relations are warming after significant tensions earlier in President Joe Biden’s tenure.

McGurk met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Riyadh, according to a tweet from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
