Eid celebrations are in full swing, and there’s plenty happening around Doha this week. The Lusail Sky Festival is lighting up the skies with aerial shows, drone displays and fireworks. Over at Qumra 2025, film lovers can catch fresh new work from up-and-coming filmmakers. And if you’re in the mood for music, the TUL8TE concert blends modern pop with Egyptian beats for a fun night out.

1. Leading the week: Lusail Sky Festival

Experience the Lusail Sky Festival over Al Saad Plaza this Eid, where the skies will come alive with aerobatics, skywriting, laser displays, and fireworks.
Pilots will take to the air with colorful smoke trails, alongside skydivers and over 3,000 synchronized drones creating a striking nighttime display. Laser shows and music-timed fireworks add to the spectacle.
On the ground, visitors can enjoy live performances, interactive activities for all ages, and a food zone featuring 14 food trucks and carts. Whether you’re drawn by the aerial stunts, the entertainment, or the food, it’s a festive way to celebrate.

2. Word on the street: Qumra 2025 film screenings

Doha Film Institute’s flagship talent incubator, Qumra, is back for its 11th edition, and it’s bringing a world of film talent to Doha. This annual gathering connects emerging filmmakers with some of the biggest names in the industry.
This year, 49 projects from 23 countries are getting expert guidance from acclaimed Qumra Masters like Lav Diaz, Darius Khondji, Walter Salles, Anna Terrazas and Johnnie To. It’s all about mentorship, collaboration and helping fresh voices in film bring their stories to the screen.
Many of these projects have been developed through DFI’s training labs and grant programs, so if you’re curious about the future of film, this is your chance to get a first look at what’s coming next.

4. Book of the week: “Qatari Voices”

Edited by Carol Henderson and Mohanalakshmi Rajakumar, “Qatari Voices” is a compelling anthology featuring the work of 25 young Qatari writers.
