The commander of Hamas in Lebanon and three leaders of another Palestinian group were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon early Monday, as the Israeli army continues to intensify its attacks across the country, mainly striking Hezbollah targets and members.

Hamas announced in a statement the killing of its commander in Lebanon — Fateh Sherif Abu el-Amin — who is also a member of the group’s leadership abroad, along with his son and wife, when an Israeli strike hit their home in the Palestinian el-Buss refugee camp in the southern city of Tyre.

Earlier, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine said three of its leaders, including its military commander in Lebanon Abd al-Aal, were killed in an Israeli air raid in the Cola area in Beirut.

Israel has stepped up its strikes in Lebanon in the past week, also killing Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah on Friday. Elsewhere in the region, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said Israeli Air Force jets carried out strikes on Sunday on Houthi targets in the areas of Yemen’s Ras Isa and Hodeidah, including power stations and a port used for oil, raising fears of a wider war in the Middle East.
